Our leather edge burnishers are offered in three varieties of wood that we have found to last and age well with continued use. They heat up well to provide a superior burnished edge on your leather goods and will remain smooth, without splintering as these woods contain natural oils that help make your burnisher even better over time.
All of our burnishers are turned by hand to offer exact sizing for your thickness of leather.
We use hardened 1/8" stainless steel shafts for use with most production rotary machines. Please be aware that if you are using a cordless battery powered Dremel you may need to purchase a larger collet to fit the 1/8" shank.
Upon arrival your burnisher may be starving for some moisture, feed it a healthy slather of natural oil such as mineral oil, or neatsfoot oil and then once that has soaked in apply some six wax (find it here) or beeswax, to the channels, heat up with a piece of scrap leather and remove excess with a rag. YOU ARE READY TO GO!
Please remember that wood is a naturally occurring substance and the grain, coloring, and overall shapes of the burnishers will be different from one to the next. They will all be generally the same but may vary.
Burnishers without a hole burnishing tip will be rounded at the top instead of made into a taper, please make sure to choose the hole burnishing tip option if you would like this added.
